Manchester United's Social Media Marketing

1. Dear Participant,

I am a final year student studying Sport Science and Management at Nottingham Trent University. I am conducting a research project to analyse how social media channels are used as a marketing tool by Manchester United – focusing on the 2021/22 season. To take part in this research, participants must be over 18 years old.

The study consists of your voluntary participation in a questionnaire answering questions on Manchester United’s social media presence Within the final written report and any other related uses of the research, personal details will be replaced with a participant I.D. or pseudonym to provide anonymity. At the conclusion of the study, all collected information will be analysed and/or transcribed and some verbatim extracts from the questionnaire may be used to form the key findings of my study. However, data will be fully anonymised and no direct or indirect information which could be used to identify you as the participant (e.g. date of birth, employer, location, job title) will be used in reports or other related uses of the research, such as presentations.

During the study all data will be stored in locked file cabinets and/or electronic files that are password protected. These will only be accessible to the researcher.

You may refuse to continue your participation in the questionnaire at any time. Even if you complete the questionnaire, you are still free to withdraw your participation afterwards by contacting the researcher. Please note that due to the complexities of withdrawing data once analysis has been undertaken, the deadline for withdrawal of data is two weeks from completing the questionnaire. To identify and withdraw your data, it will be necessary to maintain a master list with participant names and assigned Participant I.D./pseudonyms under separate cover. Only myself and my supervisor will have access to this list.

Research data will be kept in an anonymised form for up to 5 years in the case of possible publication, but will otherwise be destroyed after graduation.

Should you have any questions or desire further information please contact me on n0860296@ntu.ac.uk. If you have any questions you may also contact my project supervisor Cathryn Arter at Nottingham Trent University at Cathryn.arter@ntu.ac.uk

Kind Regards,
